Charter Members of Nu Beta Omega were Celebrated on March 26,2022 in a Ceremony that started at Parkland Memorial Cemetery in Dunedin and ended with a Breakfast Commemoration at Clearwater's African American Museum.
Charter Member, Soror Vivian L. Henry's gravesite was cleared, cleaned, polished and had homage paid with flowers and the Alpha Kappa Alpha, Incorporated Crest. Just shy of twenty-members gathered for this COVID-19 Compliant Event.
Flowers and Accolades were later showered on Charter Members, 'Golden Life' Soror, Eleanor Breland (Gamma Kappa -1969 at Tuskegee Institute) and 'Silver Life,' Soror Ann (Gamma Tau—1975 at FAMU) each took to the dais sharing remembrances.
The time-capsule memories were enjoyed by members of NBO with great reverence into a window from the past and with great pride, on how far we’ve grown since its inception January 26, 1980 by the South Atlantic Regional Director, Soror, Delores Ham Oliver.
The two consistently active Sorors - Ann and Eleanor - have been Serving Nu Beta Omega from their initial commitment as "... ALKAPS,” August 2, 1979 to the ‘small-but-mighty-chapter’ we’re nicknamed to be today.
Soror Ann remarked that: “ ...absolutely excellent. Well done and a pleasure to be a part of...a great time for me to reflect on a personal level of some of the best experiences of my life”
And Soror Eleanor echoed, with both an AKA Step and Song she recalled from her alma mater, Tuskegee.. She shared, “ It was a beautiful morning that I’m privileged and thankful that Sorors in our Chapter wanted to honor [Soror] Ann and myself as Charter Members that are still active with the beautiful bouquet of roses. The food was excellent, the hall was decorated beautifully. I’m eternally grateful that I lived to experience it. “
Pictures and videos were snapped and recorded to archive this momentous occasion.
